Weekend in Vernal

Kevin and I went to Vernal this weekend for conference to visit Anna and her family. While we were there I took pictures of her very cute kids. Here are some of them.

A Touch of Fall

I saw pumpkins the other day when I was leaving work and thought "That would make a great centerpiece." So... for only $2.08 we now have a fall centerpiece on our table. Last week Kevin gave me calla lilies which were beautiful and looked great there as well. I am excited for fall. I love fall colors, changing leaves, crisp cool air, wearing a light jacket, pumpkins, candy corn... Kevin isn't quite as excited for fall because that means it is going to start getting cold, although that means it isn't too long until we can start skiing!

Great News!

The apartment Kevin and I are renting is wonderful and we really like everything. Our only complaint was that it needed to be painted. The people living her before us had a lot of nail holes that they patched up and so the walls looked pretty rough. We've been avoiding hanging things on the wall and such because management told us that they would paint it, that was a few weeks ago. Well, the fantastic news is... they are going to paint it on Monday! The guy who does the painting came today and did some touch up work, filling in holes and the like. He said management approved for him to paint the whole thing, so he's coming back Monday and Tuesday to paint it! We can hardly wait!

The Wedding

So I know you have all been anxiously awaiting more details and photos from the wedding, so here are the details and photos will be coming as soon as we get them.

Our temple ceremony was at 10:00 at the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Kevin and I were able to sit in the Celestial Room for a while as we waited for family and friends to arrive. It was so beautiful and a great experience to be there together. Robert J. Matthews was our sealer (he is in my parent's ward and gave me my patriarchal blessing). He spoke for a little bit about the ceremony and then sealed us. It was an amazing experience and the spirit was very strong. After we were sealed he gave us some advice, which was to turn to our parents when we, as a couple, were making big decisions and need advice. After he was finished, everyone in the room came and congratulated us which was the first time I met some of Kevin's siblings.

After we changed we walked out the doors of the temple and were greeted very enthusiastically by friends and family. We talked for a little bit and then proceeded to take a lot of pictures, and then some more, and then some more. It was fun, but our cheeks were hurting by the end.

We left the temple after taking pictures and went to the Bungalow for the luncheon. Kevin's dad told a story about when he, Kevin, and I went shooting, and then everyone introduced themselves. Kevin and I then rang the large bell in celebration of the wedding and then ate a delicious lunch. After eating we visited with everyone and then went back to my house to rest for a very short time before going back to the Bungalow for more pictures.

The Bungalow was beautifully decorated in blue, green, orange and brown. We took a lot of pictures of the two of us and family. Around 6:00 people started arriving so we stood in line and greeted everyone who came. We were amazed at the number of people who came and their generous gifts. It was fun to see so many friends.

We spent about an hour and a half in line and then proceeded to cut the cake. It was pretty much the best chocolate cake I have ever eaten. Too bad we only got two bites of it. After the cake cutting I threw the bouquet, which my cousin McCall caught. Hopefully it's quite a few years before she gets married:).

After cutting the cake and such, we talked to people for a little while and then changed and walked out to the car. We got to walk through a huge line of cheering people to the lovely car that was covered with tule and frosting and filled with goodies and treats from our families. While it was a fun day, we were glad to leave and just be together for the next 4 days.

We spent the first night at Sundance (thanks to my uncle Chad). We slept in for a while and then drove up to Park City. We stayed in Park City until Wednesday. Our hotel was pretty cool. It was basically a miniature apartment but the coolest thing is it had a hot tub in the room. While we were in Park City we walked around main street, ate some delicious meals, shopped at the outlets, rode the Alpine Slide, watched a couple movies, ate ice cream... It was wonderful. We had a really good time and it was nice not worrying about school and work and such.

We didn't bring a camera with us to Park City (mine was in use when we left the reception so we figured we would just go without one), so I won't have any pictures to post of that, but I will post pictures from the wedding as soon as I have those which should be within the week.

Married Life

Kevin and I are back from our honeymoon and trying to get back in the swing of things. It's been oh so exciting to catch up on homework and put together our apartment. Thank you so much for all your generous gifts! We have everything we need to survive and more! We really appreciate everyone's generosity and feel very blessed. We don't have the pictures back from our photographer yet and I really don't have a ton of time at the moment. However, as soon as the pictures come (probably within the week) I will post them and give more details about the wedding (sorry you have to wait so long Tamara).

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Today was a day for getting things done. I had a lot on my to do list and everything got checked off! That is a great feeling, although it is a bit tiring. Even Kevin and I had a quite a list of things to do when he got off work today. Here is our list of accomplishments:

***Call UVU about card and pick it up
***Organize and clean room
***Order parking permit
***Do laundry
***Update blog
***Finish mailing invitations

With Kevin:

***Get Marriage License
***Find a tuxedo to rent
***Purchase a wedding band
***Get a necklace
***Get a copy of our housing contract

As you can see we got quite a bit done and still had time to relax and watch a movie at the end.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Kevin and I babysat for my uncle Chad a couple weeks ago so he offered to give us tickets to see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the outdoor theater at Sundance. So, last Friday night we went up there. The play, performed by UVU, was really good. After the play was over we were going to do the full moon chair lift ride but we were freezing so we decided not to. It was a great night though!

Shower

My neighbor Sandy Francom hosted a bridal shower for me tonight. So many people from my ward came and brought very generous gifts. Now I know why I had to clean out things... Thank you so much to everyone in the ward that came and for all the gifts! Thanks to Sandy for the wonderful pies and for hosting it!

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

well... Sharolee is! Sharolee got her mission call yesterday and she is going to the Baltic Mission Lithuanian speaking! Congrats to Sharolee! She will report to the MTC on November 19, 2008.
